BOARDING SCHOOL

Snowboarding and the culture surrounding it have been pegged as rebellious and reckless—a negative stigma that continues to follow the sport to this day. However, the sport is still relatively new and constantly evolving. Boarding School targets people who have unfavorable views of snowboarding, and introduces a new perspective. This informational exhibition demystifies the sport and its misconceptions, making it more accessible to potential enthusiasts.

Boarding School offers a zine, a video dictionary of common snowboarding terms, and snowboard graphics designed for the three pronounced subcultures within the community—Competitive Riders, Free Riders, and Hybrid Riders. Boarding School encourages people to have an open mind about snowboarding, and demonstrate that the snowboarding community is open to everyone.

CHLOE

Invisible Cities is a novel written by Italo Calvino. It is a collection of fictional cities explored by Marco Polo. I chose to create a brand book for the city Chloe.

Chloe is a city in which the citizens remain strangers forever. They never speak to each other, yet they imagine every possible encounter with each other—from speaking, touching, being intimate and sensual. However, none of these encounters occur because the citizens only imagine these moments. The encounters are acknowledged, but left incomplete. The minds are loud and chaotic, but the actions are always silent.

Pieces included the story by Italo Calvino, a Chloe city branded video, and hand-made book.
